Padmavati: The Mewar dynasty told the censor board a letter written to Smriti Irani

76th Maharana of Mewar Dynasty and former Lok Sabha MP Mahendra Singh Mewar said on Sunday that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has betrayed people by issuing certificates to Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film 'Padmavati'.

Udaipur: 76th Maharana of Mewar dynasty and former Lok Sabha MP Mahendra Singh Mewar said on Sunday that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has betrayed people by issuing certificates to Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film 'Padmavati'

In a letter to Minister of Information and Broadcasting Smt. Smriti Irani and Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Mahendra Singh has expressed concern over the 'suspicious behavior and conclusions' of giving U / A certificate to 'Padmavati', even if the film Amendment has been recommended.

Mahendra Singh has written in the letter, "Through the medium of Prasoon Joshi, the CBFC supports a film that fades the image of heroic characters and can also cause social unrest."

He further wrote, "People have been deceived by this decision. In such a way, giving certificates like this and continuous misrepresentation can only defame CBFC. "A copy of the letter is present with the INS.

On Saturday, the CBFC had suggested to the filmmakers to change the name of 'Padmavati' to 'Padmavat'. Along with the five suggestions, the film was announced after giving U / A certification.
