The court asked that when security guards searched the people entering the cinema hall and examining their bags, then to remove all the food items from them and force them to buy the theatre material needed.
In this case Jainendra Buxi, a resident of the city, filed a public interest petition through his advocate Aditya Pratap. The petition claimed that there is no legal or statutory provision, which prevents the carrying of water or food items inside the cinema homes.
Pratap also told the court that the Maharashtra cinema (regulatory) rules prohibit the sale of ferries and food items inside cinemas and show rooms.
