Government is exploring legal options against Padmavat in Gujarat
Following incidents of ransom and fire incidents in the buses, the police issued a strict warning and deployed more security personnel in the affected areas
Ahmedabad: Against the release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's controversial film "Padmavat", Rajput community members performed violent in Gujarat yesterday. The protesters damaged the buses and jammed the roads. Following incidents of ransom and fire incidents in the buses, the police issued a strict warning and deployed more security personnel in the affected areas. Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) also stopped its bus services in North Gujarat.
State's senior minister Bhupendra Singh Chudasama said such demonstrations are "natural" and after the Supreme Court order the government is looking for legal alternatives. GRTC banned its bus services in the northern parts of the state, where the mob blew up buses, or demolished them in the last two days.
Police officials said that the protesters blocked many roads connecting Ahmedabad-Indore Raja Marg and Banaskantha with Rajasthan.
DGP Pramod Kumar, in charge of the state, announced the deployment of the State Reserve Police and the Quick Action Force to regain control over the situation.
